Julian got into a kart for the first time after watching a main circuit car race. There and then he decided he needed to be behind the wheel.
Julian won the African Open Championship in Rotax Junior Max.
In his second season, Julian placed 2nd in the South African Formula 1600 Championship while winning the DD2 Karting Championship.
Julian won his first karting championship taking the GP Junior title.
Julian came 2nd in Rotax Senior max South African Karting Championship and was also Winner of the Nations cup in the Super Rok World Championship.
Julian won the 2017 South African Formula 1600 Championship, taking 13 out of 14 wins on his way to the title.
Moving up the karting ladder, Julian came 2nd in the South African ROK Championship. He also competed in the International World ROK Final and placed a very respectable 6th.
Stepping up into single seaters for the first time, Julian came 2nd in the South Africa Formula 1600 Championship in his Rookie Season.
Julian got his first USF2000 Podium with a 3rd place finish at Portland. He also started on pole at the Formula Ford Walter Hayes Trophy before going on to win both heats and the semi final.
